Friend, this is the most important invitation you will ever receive. Christianity is not adding inspirational beliefs to your life. Jesus calls you to Himself—to be forgiven, made new, and lovingly led by Him as Savior and Lord.

FIRST, UNDERSTAND THE GOOD NEWS

What Jesus has done
for you.

God made you for Himself

You were created in God’s image with dignity and purpose—to know Him, love Him, and live under His good rule.

Sin has separated us

Every one of us has rejected God in thought, desire, word, and action. We cannot erase our guilt or make ourselves spiritually alive.

Romans 3:23 · Romans 6:23

Jesus came to rescue sinners

God the Son became human, lived without sin, and willingly died on the cross in our place. He bore judgment so we could be forgiven.

John 3:16 · 1 Peter 2:24

Jesus rose and reigns

The grave did not hold Him. Jesus rose bodily, defeating death, and He is Lord. Our hope rests on a living Savior—not an inspiring memory.

Grace invites your response

Turn from sin and trust Jesus. Receive Him as Savior and bow to Him as Lord. Salvation is God’s gift, not a reward for becoming good enough.

TURN AND TRUST

Receiving Christ is more than repeating words.

To “accept Jesus into your heart” means entrusting your whole self to the real, risen Jesus: agreeing with God about your sin, turning from your old rule, trusting Christ’s death and resurrection, and receiving Him as your Savior and Lord.

You are not saved because a prayer is eloquent or emotional. Jesus saves by grace. A sincere prayer is simply one way to express repentance and faith.

You can come right now. You do not need a church building, perfect knowledge, or a cleaned-up past. Bring the truth about yourself to the One who already knows and loves you.

What comes next?

These practices do not keep you saved—Jesus does. They are ordinary gifts through which you learn His voice, grow in grace, and walk with His people.

Tell a Christian you trust

Following Jesus is personal, but never meant to remain private. Tell a mature believer what has happened and ask her to walk with you.

A faithful Christian friend, pastor’s wife, women’s ministry leader, or older believer can help you take your next steps.

Begin reading the Bible

Start with the Gospel of John and meet Jesus in His own words and actions. Read one chapter at a time. Ask: What does this show me about Jesus? What should I trust or obey?

You do not have to understand everything immediately. Write down questions and keep reading in context.

Learn to pray honestly

Prayer is speaking with your Father because Jesus has brought you near. Praise Him, confess sin, thank Him, ask for what you need, pray for others, and yield to His will.

Simple is enough: ‘Father, help me know Jesus, understand Your Word, turn from sin, and obey You today.’

Find a healthy local church

Look for a church where Scripture is taught in context, the Gospel is clear, Jesus is central, leaders are accountable, and people practice truth, love, prayer, generosity, and care.

Healthy churches protect children and vulnerable people, welcome honest questions, handle money openly, and never use authority to silence reports of harm.

Be baptized

Jesus commands His followers to be baptized. Baptism does not purchase salvation; it is the public sign that you belong to Christ and are united with His death and resurrection.

Talk with the leaders of a faithful church about preparing for baptism. Christian traditions differ on some details, so study Scripture with them carefully.

Build Christian community

Attend consistently, join a small group or Bible study, serve with your gifts, and seek friendships across generations. Real community takes time, honesty, forgiveness, and wise boundaries.

No church is perfect, but spiritual abuse, manipulation, secrecy, or unsafe leadership should never be excused as normal imperfection.

actually read.

You do not need the most expensive or decorative Bible. Choose a trustworthy translation with readable print, useful headings, and room for the kind of notes you genuinely take.

FINDING A CHURCH HOME

Look for faithfulness,
not a perfect performance.

LOOK FOR

The Bible taught carefully and in context
Salvation clearly taught by grace through faith in Christ
Prayer, baptism, Communion, worship, and discipleship
Qualified, accountable, humble leadership
Meaningful community across ages and life seasons
Clear safeguarding and transparent finances
Compassion for the vulnerable and courage to address sin

BE CAUTIOUS OF

A leader who cannot be questioned or corrected
Pressure to hide abuse, danger, or serious wrongdoing
Claims that loyalty to the church equals loyalty to God
Manipulation through fear, money, prophecy, or isolation
Teaching built around one personality instead of Jesus
Controlling whom members may speak to, date, or trust
A culture where image matters more than truth and safety

Visit more than once, listen to several sermons, read the church’s beliefs, ask how leaders are accountable, and speak with mature members. If you are leaving an abusive or controlling church, seek safe outside support; protecting yourself is not abandoning Jesus.

WHEN YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PRAY

Start with four
honest movements.

Prayer grows through relationship, not performance. You can speak aloud, write, sit quietly, pray Scripture, or whisper one truthful sentence.

WHEN YOU STUMBLE

Run toward Jesus,
not away from Him.

Christians still struggle, doubt, and need correction. Growth is not instant perfection. Confess sin, receive forgiveness, make wise repair, ask for help, and begin again. Your hope is not the strength of your grip on Jesus—it is the strength of His grace holding you.
