DAY 27 · 6 MINUTE DEVOTIONAL

Joy without denial

Biblical joy does not require calling painful circumstances good. It locates hope in a God who remains good.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will be joyful in God my Savior.
Habakkuk 3:17–18

SIT WITH THE WORD

Habakkuk lists real losses before choosing joy. The ‘yet’ matters. Joy stands beside grief, not on top of it pretending nothing happened.

Christian joy is finally anchored in Jesus’ resurrection. Sorrow is real, but it is not ultimate. Practice gratitude without using it to silence lament.

REFLECT WITH JESUS

Where do grief and gratitude need room to coexist?

1Have I used positivity to avoid pain?

2What remains true about God here?

ONE FAITHFUL STEP

Carry it into today

Name one grief and one gift without letting either cancel the other.

PRAY

God my Savior, hold my sorrow and awaken sturdy joy. Keep me honest about loss and hopeful because Jesus is alive. Amen.
